Water Council to hold a “connecting talent through internships” event..

The Water Council education and talent committee will be hosting a “connecting talent through internships” event next Tuesday, March 23rd. The event will be at Manpower Inc. headquarters and is scheduled to go from 2:30pm to 5pm.

Students can expect to meet with company executives from some of the area’s water companies!

“Our whole goal here is to get the word out to these students that there are internships and ultimately jobs in Milwaukee and specifically in the water industry,” said Rich Meeusen, chief executive officer of Brown Deer-based Badger Meter Inc. “As a company I want to find the talent I need here, and the more kids that are getting into the water courses and interested in the water industry the better it is going to be for all of us.”

Spreenkler Creative Does Vegas (The Zappos Adventure)

****UPDATE TO OUR HUMAN WHITEBOARD EXPERIMENT****
At the beginning of the summer, we brought on 5 interns from local universities. Since the inception of the first generation “Spreenkterns” (@spreenkterns), they have worked on a myriad of projects for a number or local, regional and national brands.

One of the larger projects focuses on Zappos.com, the behemoth online shoe retailer. We had the awesome opportunity to travel out to Las Vegas/Henderson to visit the Zappos.com Headquarters.

Spreenkler launches Human White Board Experiment

This summer Spreenkler will hire five students from local universities to take part in the first ever Human White Board Experiment. The experiment takes students through 13 weeks of exploration in how interactive marketing, social media and consumer behavior will continue to merge and the impact that it will have on how companies position their brand to allow consumers to learn, purchase, experience and share with peers.

With the continued emergence of social media and the millions of people visiting websites such as Facebook (140 million), YouTube (82 million), Twitter (23 million) and LinkedIn (11 million) each month, and the conversations that are happening through those platforms, Spreenkler has developed a program that can help companies better understand how, where and when this is happening and how they can leverage these conversations.

To execute the program, Spreenkler will choose five “client” companies/industries to use as examples for students. Though Spreenkler would love for this to be a direct partnership with each “client,” that will not keep them from selecting, analyzing and creating a concept for a chosen “client.” At the end of the summer Spreenkler hopes to present these concepts to the organizations/industries to provide insight into what was learned and to give students valuable presentation experience and feedback.

Students begin the program as blank boards and will experience over 1,300 hours of campaign development, 195 hours of skills training, access to 50+ industry mentors and interaction to build the skills and understanding required to complete the “client” concept.

At the end of the program one question will be answered, “How will social technology impact brand and consumer engagement?”

Announcing BootWorks

Join the first session of BootWorks, a brand new initiative from Brennan Stehling. Bootworks is a hands on lab that works as a training program where professionals volunteer their time to be mentors.

Sessions take place every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 6-9pm. Topics will cover various technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Flash, Flex, Silverlight, video, digital photography and many others.
